Il Soriso: Review

The Place: Il Sorriso, Ross Terrace, 1 New St, Malahide, Co. Dublin, K36 WK81

Nestled in the charming coastal village of Malahide, Dublin, Il Sorriso offers a delightful dining experience that perfectly combines flavour, quality, and a welcoming atmosphere. Our recent visit proved to be a culinary delight, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to serving delicious Italian cuisine.

Early Bird Menu

We opted for the early bird menu, priced at an exceptional €23.95 for a starter and a main course. This value is hard to beat, especially considering the quality of the dishes served. We chose the chicken wings as a starter, and opted for pizza for mains.

Starters: Chicken Wings

The chicken wings arrived swiftly, a promising sign of the kitchen's efficiency. Cooked to perfection, they were incredibly tender, practically falling off the bone. Tossed in a homemade barbecue sauce with a hint of spice, these wings delivered a delightful balance of smoky sweetness and heat. They were utterly satisfying and a fantastic way to kick off our meal.

Main Course: Pepperoni Pizza

The highlight of the dining experience was undoubtedly the pepperoni pizza. Contrary to my usual preference for larger pepperoni slices, the small, flavourful pieces on this pizza were surprisingly delicious. The pizza itself was generously sized, with a perfectly baked crust that was both crisp and chewy. Each bite was bursting with flavour, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next. My friend’s pizza was equally impressive, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and taste.

Drinks and Atmosphere

To complement our meal, we ordered two Peroni’s. These beers were served in charmingly small glasses that added a touch of quaintness to the dining experience. The refreshing quality of the beer paired beautifully with the rich flavours of the pizza and wings.

The restaurant's ambiance contributed to the overall experience, with friendly staff who greeted us with warm smiles and attentiveness. It’s evident that Il Sorriso values its customers, creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes every visit enjoyable.

Final Touches

As we finished our meal, we were offered sambuca shots—an unexpected yet delightful gesture that added a celebratory note to our dining experience. It’s these small touches that make Il Sorriso a memorable place to dine.

Conclusion

With a total bill of €70 for two starters, mains, and four drinks, the value we received was remarkable. We left Il Sorriso with satisfied palates and happy hearts, agreeing that we had never had a bad meal there. For anyone visiting Malahide, I wholeheartedly recommend stopping by Il Sorriso. It’s just a short walk from the Malahide train station, making it an accessible stop for locals and tourists alike.

In summary, if you’re looking for a fantastic Italian meal in a friendly setting, Il Sorriso should be at the top of your list. With its exceptional early bird menu, delicious food, and welcoming staff, this restaurant is a true gem on the Dublin culinary scene.
